appy for GC for brother

have applied for GC for brother ( I am a US citizen), and has a few more years' waiting ahead. he may or may not get his approval before his son turns 21. At this time, his son is planning to attend University in the US. will his application for F-1 visa be affected beacuse his dad's application? If the answer is yes, if we retract our application, will it help with his visa?
 
I really don't think so. You are sponsoring your brother and not your nephew. Your brother is a direct beneficiary of your petition and your nephew is a derivative beneficiary.

It is impossible to predict the furure. The I-130 might or might not have an effect on an F-1 student visa but there are so many "What If's" that it is a waste of time to worry about it. You don't know when a visa will become available and when it finally does, it's anybody's guess if your nephew will have aged-out or would benefit from CSPA. Live life and worry later on this one.
