Hi,

I would like to know if someone has received an interview date recently at the Delhi consulate. I received a letter dated April 22 from the NVC saying that my papers had been sent to the Delhi consulate, I am trying to find out when I can expect my interview date to be.

Thanks.

Hey -- looking at www.cptracker.com, it seems that the New Delhi embassy has been taking anywhere from 60-90 days to schedule an interview. However, there are very few New Delhi listings on that website, and that average is spread out across the past 3 years. I'm not sure how accurate it is based on recent experience.

I would suspect, if the pace is the same as the other consulates (Mumbai, Chennai) that are better represented in this forum, as well as on cptracker, that you might get an interview late June/early July.

It's been long enough since the papers were forwarded to the Embassy that you can email the Immigrant Visa division and check on the status. The worst they'll tell you is to wait! The email address is on the Embassy's website:

http://newdelhi.usembassy.gov/wwwhconsu.html

Please do share what you can on this forum. My papers were just reviewed at the NVC and they should be sending it to New Delhi soon -- guess I'm about a month or so behind you. It will be helpful to hear what responses you get from the Embassy.

Best wishes,

Agree with GS28's analysis there. We're pretty much looking at 2-3 months max to get an interview date after the case is sent to the consulate, though there have been exceptions to the above at consulates outside india judging from cptracker.com. Lets all hope for the best!! We've waited so long....just a few more days of grinding your teeth and it'll all be over very soon :)

I would advise you to call the consulate within a month of them receiving your papers. I recently had an interview and it was scheduled pretty soon without me getting any letters about it. Just call them and ask them an approximate date I am sure they'll be able to help.

Hello Gs 28
I had filed I-824 in the beginning of feb 2005 at vermont. I have an appproved Eb-1. I still have'nt heard from NVC. ANy suggestions?

Hey Niraj: that's a rather long time to not have heard anything from the NVC. Have you checked the automated voice message system of the NVC? If you haven't heard anything, it's best that you call during office hours and speak to an operator, or have your attorney do that (they should have already!).

Hello Niraj724,

I-824 has nothing to do with NVC. Since you have applied at Vermont Center, they will process it and then forward it to NVC. Approximately I-824 takes anywhere betwen 8-12 months. We got in 10 months from CSC. We sent I-824 in March 2004, and NVC contacted us only in March 2005 !!
So, it does take some time for I-824, which is a request to make changes to the approved petition.. May be you are lucky, and things can speed up faster... but that is my exp..

Hey Niraj -- let me concur with ssb0801 --- I misread your original query to read that your petition had reached the NVC in Feb. 2005. If the petition went to the VSC in Feb. 2005, yes, it will be a while before they act on it. You can estimate the approximate processing times of an I-824 at VSC online at:

https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/Processtimes.jsp?SeviceCenter=Vermont

Hmm -- right now it looks like they're processing 824s with a receipt date of Feb. 19, 2005 -- so you might be in luck! Best wishes.

Thank You for your response.
My receipt date for I-824 at VSC is 2/5/05 and apparently they have reached this date about 7weeks ago, but no word from NVC yet.
Could you tell me approximately how long does it take to hear from NVC after the I-824 is processed by VSC?

Am I eligible to apply for AC-140 and go that route?
Thank you once again
