Hi All

I just got an email from the congressmans office to inform me that my case is approved. I am happy but mostly relieved that this ordeal is over for my family.

Here are my I485 details --
Category - EB1
RD - 05/21/2001
ND - 08/17/2001
SRC-01-246-52xxx
FP1 - 08/20/2002

I was informed that my case was sent to some archival facility around 02/14/2004. I followed up with the congressmans office on 03/14/2004. I was sent a new FP notice on 03/18/2004.

Now I get the email from the congressmans office that says our cases (mine and spouse) were approved on 03/08/2004. Why in the world they would send me a fp notice after approving the case I have no idea.

On line case status has not changed. Nor have I received the approval notice from INS. I am hoping that these are mere formalities that will be completed in short order.

This group was very helpful to me in terms of knowing the latest information but mostly hearing from other folks going through similar experiences was quite useful.

It must be a neightmare for you, but finally you got relief. I am happy for you.
 
Mj - can you tell me how long did it take from the time you contacted the senator and things starting moving.I know things wont be same for all cases .

As i had told you when i contacted congressman office they told our files are in sanfranscisco and god knows why they are sent there from TSC.I live in miami/florida

Till now i have not heard anything back from them.i'm very frustrated and was wondering how long my wait will be ......

I contacted the senators office and the congresswomans office around first week of febrauary, 2004.

I got a letter from the senators office saying that my files were in the process of being sent to an officer (from the archival place) and I should hear something "in the near future"

The congresswomans office contacted me by phone on 02/14 and told me pretty much the same thing and said if I dont hear anything from TSC in a month that I should follow up with her.
I did not hear anything by 03/14 so I called the congressmans office again on 03/14.

About two weeks ago (03/21 or so), I got another fp appointment notice. The appointment was scheduled for 05/03 so I was just waiting to complete the FP before I got in touch with the senators office again.

So yesterday I was rather pleasantly surprised to see the approval email from the congresswomans office.

So we can say the whole process of following up took about 2.5 months. I am just relieved, hopefully I will receive the approval notices soon. There are still somethings that dont make sense like if my gc was approved on 03/08 why would I receive a second fp notice dated 03/15.

I reconfirmed with the congresswomans office yesterday and she is positive that our cases area approved. I was told if we do not receive the approval notices by 04/15 that I should contact them again.

My 485 is still pending and my RD is Aug 2001. I have contacted my senator. I have given them information that they need. I was planning on waiting for a week to call on check on the status. Is any one in the same boat as I am?
