Saw the magic words online last night. I updated rupnet under same name - muract
Came to US in Fall 1991 fresh out of college in India.
Did a PHD. Thought I could use my PHD to get a GC through EB-1 or NIW.
Started work in April 1997.
Started GC in August 1999. Company lawyers nixed the EB-1 / NIW route. Had to go through LC process.
PD August 1999.
PAperwork got lost between Indiana state labor and Chicago DOL for 9 months. LC finally approved in June 2001.
Filed I-140 in July 2001. Approved in Sep 2001.
Company got bought in Dec 2001. So I-485 delayed.
Filed I-485 in Feb 2002 RD- Feb 2002, ND March 2002.
New I-140 also filed and approved in June 2002.

RFE (Employment) on 10/27/2003
RFE received by INS on 11/21/2003.
FP2 on 02/13/2004.
FBI name check confirmed my name check completed in DEC 2002 and wife's in Jan 2003. The dates are correct
Contacted Congressman's office on March 31, 2004 who told me after they talked to INS that my case was assigned to officer on MArch 17, 2004. So case was approved 4 weeks after being assigned to officer.
AD 04/14/2004 afetr 7 years with same company.
Got married. Kid is 2.5 years old and I have many grey hairs. On one hand I do not feel any sense of elation as I feel that I had to get the approval; some day. On the other hand I know I am fortunate to keep my job especially with a 50% reduction in workforce over past 7 years.
