AWWW PCee,

You brought this ancient approval up and raised my hopes for no reason. :(

I was so excited to read about the approval till I started scrolling down and saw my name, and then saw the date was like over 6 weeks ago!

Please don't give false hopes again. If over a couple of weeks have passed since approval and people feel a need to congratulate then send a PM don't bring up a topic that has been dead/buried and converted into compost. :(

140_takes_4ever,

First, I am sorry for raising your hopes for no reason (my intention was not that).

Probably you know that I went on vacation from 11/23/02 to 01/02/03. In my absence the tracking list is not updated at all. When I posted in some other thread that "I was expecting lot of approvals while I was on vacation" some one joked about it saying "PCee on the positive side notice that your tracking list is still upto date!" I took it as a very good joke but in reality it is true! Between 11/23 and 01/02 this is the only record I missed. By the way in my list this is still "The latest approval!"

In the past several people discussed about posting approvals and some argued that it is waste of time and resources to congratulate some one like this rather than sending private messages. I have exactly opposite opinion. If I missed lot many records I would have thought for a second before bringing up threads but in the current case it was only one or two threads! When people are spending hours on this board and if they open this thread and realize that it is just an old approval, I thought they would simply ignore it! Mostly just by looking their member ID on this board I remember so many people! "rgk" is a familiar name to me. Its Congratulations from my heart to rgk and in my view this thread is the proper place to congratulate rgk. Note that every thread has poster's name etc. On top of this, this thread has approval date also in the subject line! So can you please rethink about your last two lines in your previous post?

By the way in my opinion, if you are so emotional (...because this thread came up and it made you write above response...) then probably being active on this board will cause you more harm than good and it is not good for you.

Lengthy response

PCee,

First of all, let me clarify my position on congratulating a person who has received his/her approval. If you go back to the old thread you will see that I have always strongly supported it.

Second, I do realise you have been on vacation and missed out on wishing people who may have been approved, but considering the time lag between the approval date and your current posting do you honestly expect the person to still be around on this long to receive your best wishes? I think not! A majority of people refuse to even post after approval, those that do, stop checking the forums after a week on receiving their approvals. It has been close to 6 weeks since rgk was approved, I haven't seen anything from him/her since so do you honestly expect "rgk" to come back to read your post? As far as my understanding of the "congratulating" process goes, it is for the express purpose of expressing our solidarity and joy with the person who has been approved. So that feeling is really wasted if the person is not around to receive it.

Thirdly, if you had sent "rgk" a pm, he/she would have received an email in their mail box which would convey your regards to them definitely as compared to rejuvenating up a dead and buried topic, which only the rest of us would read.

Fourthly, I agree I should have read the header more completely, but I think I might be forgiven my lapse if you understand how dry it has been here on approvals, that even a glimpse of an approval was good enough for me to jump right into the message and shout out my best wishes.

Taking all the above points into consideration, I would not be wrong in making my point that, you were in the wrong to post in the general forum if you really wanted to congratulate "rgk", but if you just want to post for the heck of posting then I am in the wrong for which I apologize for berating you.

Finally as far as your opinion about me being emotional and hence concluding that being active on the forum is bad for me, I will let that pass without flaming you on the same. I do admire your attempts to help our community with your tracker and am thankful that you have the enthusiasm to do so, hence am willing to accept that you have your off days in which you want to let out steam, but if you reconsider your last paragraph, you might come to the conclusion that it was an extremely uncalled for remark which is very catty and mean spirited, and both those two traits are not something I would normally associate with someone of your stature in this community.

Hey, I am still here :) and I really appreciate all the good wishes from everyone.

This is open forum and any one can post
message to any thread. So it is impossible
to set rules. Once you set rules, a new person
would come and do exactly opposite and then we
would spend time teaching him the rules and the
cycle would go on.

Again, it is easy to say that ignore posts you dont like. But, different people react
differently and we just have to understand that
and live peacefully :)

Mee too.

I also visit immigration board regularly - even after I got approved on 11/5/02. How can just suddenly stop visiting it when I used to spend hours and hours daily on it. Basically we have formed such a group here that you really feel for WAC-01 folks awaiting approval. I cant forget what it is to just keep waiting endlessly and things dont really change that much after approval. Once again, it all depends on how everybody looks at it. Anyways, I wish for all 01 series for approvals soon.
All the best, friends

My apologies rgk for passing you on as dead and buried! :) Haven't heard from you in a while hence the presumption.

Well since you are alive and well I guess I am mistaken in berating PCee for congratulating you. I apologize for that as well.

As far as rules of posting are concerned, I agree there are none, I had posted my response to PCee initially tongue-in-cheek as you can make out from the post, but I took it more personal after PCee's stronger than required put down email.

Regards!

I guess the time has come to start feeling something (sorry?) for 02 series folks as well. We should always feel sorry for the earliest application that is not approved (maybe someone in 00 series?? - though I hope not; or maybe the FB waiters), but all of us are basically in the same dump.

So folks out there saying prayers, say some for 01, 02 and the 03 fellas as well :)

good luck...

140_takes_4ever,

It is my personal experience that some times being active on this board does more harm than good based on how emotional the person is. It is not even an advice rather it is just a suggestion! Probably you took it as if I wrote, "...get off the board..." Please I didn't mean it in that way at all. It is a very sincere suggestion that worked for me and I thought it might work for you too!

While I was on vacation (even though I had Internet access) I didn't bother to come on to this board, not even once! If I checked this board probably it would have raised my stress level and would have spoiled my vacation! In the past there are several times where I felt coming on to this board is causing me stress so staying away for few days worked for me!

Once again I am sorry if you felt my suggestion was mean spirited.
