Lengthy response
PCee,
First of all, let me clarify my position on congratulating a person who has received his/her approval. If you go back to the old thread you will see that I have always strongly supported it.
Second, I do realise you have been on vacation and missed out on wishing people who may have been approved, but considering the time lag between the approval date and your current posting do you honestly expect the person to still be around on this long to receive your best wishes? I think not! A majority of people refuse to even post after approval, those that do, stop checking the forums after a week on receiving their approvals. It has been close to 6 weeks since rgk was approved, I haven't seen anything from him/her since so do you honestly expect "rgk" to come back to read your post? As far as my understanding of the "congratulating" process goes, it is for the express purpose of expressing our solidarity and joy with the person who has been approved. So that feeling is really wasted if the person is not around to receive it.
Thirdly, if you had sent "rgk" a pm, he/she would have received an email in their mail box which would convey your regards to them definitely as compared to rejuvenating up a dead and buried topic, which only the rest of us would read.
Fourthly, I agree I should have read the header more completely, but I think I might be forgiven my lapse if you understand how dry it has been here on approvals, that even a glimpse of an approval was good enough for me to jump right into the message and shout out my best wishes.
Taking all the above points into consideration, I would not be wrong in making my point that, you were in the wrong to post in the general forum if you really wanted to congratulate "rgk", but if you just want to post for the heck of posting then I am in the wrong for which I apologize for berating you.
Finally as far as your opinion about me being emotional and hence concluding that being active on the forum is bad for me, I will let that pass without flaming you on the same. I do admire your attempts to help our community with your tracker and am thankful that you have the enthusiasm to do so, hence am willing to accept that you have your off days in which you want to let out steam, but if you reconsider your last paragraph, you might come to the conclusion that it was an extremely uncalled for remark which is very catty and mean spirited, and both those two traits are not something I would normally associate with someone of your stature in this community.
