quit sponsoring employer after 180 days(last year)....approved and PPs stamped recently....

came to know end of last year that sponsoring employer didn't pay an installment to the attorney which was due when I was still working for them.... talked to sponsoring employer at that time about it and was promised that it would be taken care of...

now looks like they still haven't made the payment and do not intend to(note: sponsoring employer has no idea I changed companies...still thinks I'm with them)....

attorney hasn't mailed me the original approvals yet.... wants me to contact them....

I'm really upset....have been through enough with this company and don't want to pay out of my pocket...

Will I have any problems in future?

Do I need the original approvals in future?

Any advices or suggestions are welcome!

Thanks!

Did you hire the attorney or did your company hire the attorney?

I assume your company hired the attorney and therefore they have to pay the bill. It has nothing to do with you really, because even though he worked on your case he really worked for your former company.

In other words, if your company doesn't pay the vendor that operates the water cooler than the vendor should complain to your company not to you even though you were the one who actually drank the water.

Its DONE the process.
Forget attorney.

If you want : Inform INS that he is no more your attorney and you want to be on your own and get your plastic cards directly to you. Mark a copy to ex-attorney ... saying courtesy.

-my thinking please.....and i would do like this ..
unless other experienced disagree with some authentication.

balance your money with troubls you might have in future. according to the low, you don't need to pay attorney, but as an employment base GC applicant, quit the job, instead laid off, within a year from gc approval with the company who sponsors your I-140 may impact your GC and future citizen application if your sponsor company write a letter to INS

Thanks for your suggestions guys...

Yes the attorney was hired by my prev. employer....not by me

I have no idea what G-28 form is? Can anybody give me more info? Also, I don't remember if I signed one.

Are the plastic cards mailed to the attorney? When I got my PP stamped I gave the officer my home address as the address where the plastic cards have to be mailed to.

More suggestions are welcome.

G-28 is the "Notice of Entry of Appearance as Attorney or Representative"

Green Cards are mailed to the Employee ONLY.

Try to make peace between the Company & the Lawyer.

Good Luck!

I'm in similar situation. I don't know if my employer payed to lawyer or not. But, he does n't seem to inform me anything. When my case got approved in Jan, I waited for lawyer to give me approval notice. He said he did n't receive it. (??). I waited for 3 weeks and called INS to send a duplicate. I gave my home address to INS to send a courtesy copy (until then my home address was not given to INS by my lawyer). I got stamping done with my duplicate courtesy copy. Still my lawyer does n't talk about the original approval letter.

I really hope INS will deliver my Cards to home address.
