Would you please tell us what evidence they were talking about when you mentioned Biography Form, Medical Exam.
didn't you provide them initially?
--------------
I did not provide Medical Exam before (I was told by doctors it good for 1 year only).
I did give them Biography Form, but they wanted more info.

Also, one more question for Tomochka:
when they asked you to show the proof of 1yr presence in US did
it have to be of 1yr continuous presence or could it have been one compound year. (I have asked this question a few days ago but haven't received any replies. If someone else knows the answer to this please please please let me know...I took a trip out of country couple of months before applying for gc, so now I am worried that all this waiting will be for nothing. Needless to say, I am quite worried).

As per INS general phone answer, it is abour 1st year after aslm approved. But lawer advised to show all years of living here.
Was your trip long, few month? Why are you worring?
We had 1 week trip to the border country of my native country soon after asulym was approved. Looks as it did not do anything bad.

Good luck to everybody again!
Thank you, friends!

I went to Mexico for a couple of weeks on a RTD two months before applying for GC. When I applied for GC I had accumulated well over 1 yr of living in the States on the asylee status but now I am worried because someone said that INS wants to see 1 yr of being continuously in the US as in the counter is reset every time a person leaves US. Is this really true?

Thanks for all the responses.

I do not think so. It has to be some time limit - few month trip or so could maybe change counter, as per my opinion. But: call INS, some other free #s, try to gether more info. It is always good to be ready before problem arise...

Benko,

It is one year IN AGGREGATE.

Hi Gilbert,
Thank you soooo much for clarifying this for me (1 thing less to worry about...). Your expertise is always welcome and appreciated.

Wow.

Congratulations to every one who got approved and best wishes to the rest of the people who are waiting for their approvals.

I got stamped!
I came to local INS very early (thank you, guys, for good advise!), so I got stamped by 10.15 am already.
Good advise was also: to take 3 pictures(letter says 2).
They asked me to show expired national passport, took original entry departure card(I-94) from there (It's a pity for me, I am not even sure I have a copy somewhere), took another I-94, the last one I had for entering USA. I did not show RTD. She did the separate card for me and put "Employment Authorized", "Traveling Authorized" (meaning I have to have RTD, probably). Most asylees, waited there, just had there renewed national passports to be stamped.
"Employment Authorized" - I am wondering now, if I have to apply for EAD to get a new job (I have SS without any restrictions, so I did not pay $100 for new EAD few years already. Do not know what to do now).
In few next days after stamping I went to Canada to try my new GC. Nobody even check our documents, when we were entering Canada(the driver was an amer. citizen and he did a tolk). Entering back to USA, I had to show RTD and card stamped. They did not put any additional stamp in my RTD, did not issue any new I-94. Everthng was OK!...
