Hi Folks..

It has been a long journey and milestones are listed below...i wish all the luck to people who have been waiting...hang in there...your approval may be just arround the corner.

Tons of Thanks and lots of good wishes to a wonderful lady in VSC who took time to review my case on March 1, 2006 and push it for further processing.. Had i not got her on the line, i would be still hanging in there...God Give her everything she wants

You mentioned that VSC lady took time to review your case and pushed it. How did you do that and what is exactly she did for you? Could you please explain so we all can get benifit of this. Awaiting for your response.

I think she was just nice. I didn't do anything specific. She reviewed my case, went to the visa bulletin and saw that my PD was in line with the what was published. She was surprised the case was not in the approval pipeline hence mentioned that she is pulling it out for review and moving it forward. I know she did because i got a notice for 2nd FP within a week. I don't know if she did anything more specific.

we called USCIS today and both of us were on the call. The VSC rep told my wife that her case was with a officer and she should hear on the decision soon.

Yes, i think the name check took more time. My name is a common name in India and i remember even going to the local senator for help which was useless (His office said they cannot help in name check cases). I just made sure that the request for name check was sent to FBI etc by making a 2 calls to USCIS (remember, repeated calls to USCIS is not liked by them..i was asked why i had made so many calls in the past for status check the last time i called VSC)

Hope this helps...

Good LUCk

Do these people keep a track of enquiries per EAC number? These guys should be doing more productive work by keeping track on pending name-checks.

I can understand your frustration but i think we have to give the officers at USCIS a break. Yesterday when i called USCIS, the rep told me that he was one of the officers who adjucates cases. So if they are the same people who are taking our calls and reviewing our files too, when do they get time to review our cases if they are talking to us. I may sound wrong but we all should limit our calls to VSC unless we know that there is a problem and we need to talk to a live officer.

Calling them for a status does not help in moving your case any faster, it adds to the delay in processing of the files other candidates which are with the officer for review. I do not think VSC has any interest in delaying a case. Take a look at below on my call history and what were notable points

1. Feb 9th, 2006 - The lady took my alien number and said she cannot provide any status...Bummer...she made a entry in my EAC number but call was wasted
2. March 1, 2006 - I got an angel..she looked at mine and my wife's case, spend time and said "We don't want you to call again so i am moving this file for further processing"..notice the request not to call again.
- I GOT My 2nd FP notice within a week
3. April 3rd, 2006 - Rep was annoyed, i called so often. I apologized. He explained why we should not call in a very nice way and we ended the call on a good note.
- I-485 approved on April 20th
4. April 24th, 2006 - We called to find out about my wife's case. REp is happy that we called because he was surprised to see the cases decoupled. He explained what was the current status and said "It is with a officer and i too am an officer"

Bottomline - I think we have to be patient and not call VSC more than what is required. We'll do a lot of good to each other by calling less...Just my 2 Cents. Call when absolutely necessary...
