Hello,
My I-140 has just been approved. I live in Canada and I am doing consular processing.
Do you have experience traveling to the US on vacation (no visa needed for Canadians) while having I-140 approved and waiting for consular processing?
Consular processing is a wait of around 1.7 years before the interview in Montreal. I would like to travel to the US on vacation while waiting. I have strong ties to Canada (owning a house and kid at school).
My lawyer said I shouldn't or apply with him for a O-1 visa in the meantime (more $ for him)...
Thank you for your help!

Should be fine. The worst case is that you will be denied entry. It shouldn't affect your I-140.

Yes, you should be able to travel to the U.S. on vacation while waiting for consular processing, as long as you’re clear that your trip is temporary and you have strong ties to Canada (like your house and child’s schooling). Many Canadians with an approved I-140 successfully travel to the U.S. for short visits, though border officials may ask about your intent to return to Canada. Just be ready to explain that your visit is for tourism only, and you plan to return home. The O-1 visa is an option, but it’s often unnecessary and comes with extra costs.
