hi all,

i was approved on Nov 14 and even though the welcome notice was sent right then I never received my card. I went to the local office and they said that maybe it was lost - I should apply again - it will take 6-12 months!:( when I call the 1800 number they say it was not sent and that it will take up to 6 months to send. My notice read that I should have it within 3 weeks. Would anyone have an idea what I could do to get it soon as I need to travel (visa...) thanks and may 2007 bring happy days to all:)

Hey,

Seems like you took all the required actions and they keep you going around in circles. I would suggest you call the 1-800 number again, but try to get to the service center instead of a customer service rep. Once you get to the service center, you can ask the Immigration Officer that answers to look into your case. You will need to provide your receipt number and A#. Let them know of the difficulty you have had from the Local Office and Customer Service Reps when trying to figure out what happend to your greencard.

The way to do this is to select the option that says you got a notice of action, and then selecting the option that indicates you do not understand the notice of action. I've provided the steps below:

Exact Steps:
-Dial the number: 1-800-375-5283
-Press 1 for english
-Press 2 to bypass the introduction and go to the main menu
-Press 2 for getting information about medicals
-Press 4 for option about a notice from USCIS requesting more information
-Press 2 for the option that indicates you do not understand the information requested by USCIS and would like further assistance
- At this point the system will ask you if you have a receipt number
-Press 1 to indicate you know your receipt number
-Enter your receipt number and you will be transfered to the service center handling your case (There will be a long message before you are transfered and the recording will tell you are being transfered to a customer service rep, but do not hangup - it will actually trasfer you to the service center. You can verify this by listening to the recorded introduction message you get once you have been transfered; all service centers introduce themselves. For example: "You have reached the Vermont Service Center, ...."

Goodluck and let us know what happens. I've done this multiple times so hopefully you will get through to the service center.

Regards.

thanks

thanks, I will try, I have also set up one more infopass app. 'will let you know. thx again and happy new year.

hello

hi,
the calling instructions did help, I got through to NSC directly. But they claim that my card was sent in November. I never received it. They say that I need to file I-90 and wait for about 6 months to get a new one:( It is odd because they say that welcome notice was sent on Nov 14 and I received that and that Approval Notice (with card) was sent on Nov 18 and I never received that.
what to do?

Firstly, when you got infopass, take your NP(if you have it) or RTD and get stamped for Permanent REsidency. That way, you can show it if asked by an employer or if you have to travel in emergency while waiting for your card.

Then you need to file for I-90 and explain you never got it. Sadly it takes 6 months but in the meantime, they will issue you a PR stamp which can be of benefit.

And you emailed me about expediting a RTD? You don't really need a senator. If your reasons are valid like a marriage or some illness, you have a certificate of medical illness or a marriage card, just put it on top of your expedite request..usually certifacate of medical illness works all the time.

Now that you are a PR, you should apply for a RP.

hi

wmgcn, I already sent in my application and applied for RTD. will they issue that or RP? i chose RTD as I can go to Germany with no visa and have a friend there. I have an expired NP, if I take that to the local office will they stamp a PR stamp on that? is there a point having it in an expired passport? yesterday I was in my local office and as usual got to be treated horribly. They said there is nothing they can do not even give me a stamp that I am PR without a GC! they can't even hear their own senseless words and trying to explain was in vain. I would liek to travel and having something official that I am a pr would be nice. will the RTD once issued indicate that I am a PR?

thanks a bunch!:)

With respect to your actual green card one thing you can do is to ask your member of Congress for help. That usually works.
