I just want to let everyone know that I received my approval letter last week. I wanted to share the good news but I did not want to crush 2 people in this forum who showed tremendous hate for me over the last few weeks (and conitnue to do so despite my ignoring of them). God bless you all
 
Hey Shamson! Can you tell us when you applied for permanent residency and when you received finger print notice?

Congratulations shamshon,this is what we need in this forum instead of attacking each other.If i may ask you when did you file I-485 and when did you do FP?
 
I applied in september 1998 and my receipt notice was on october 3rd 1998. Leathergreat, i think you are right . Personal attacks only refelct superficial people . I stopped but they did not. I hope you tell them the same thing you told me.

Congratulations on receiving the approval letter. Can you please tell us when you got your fingerprinting done. Also, did the approval letter mention the date/place when you should get your passport/travel doc. stamped as PR.

ur "new" life has just begun
how about mine? ha.
I'm still waiting for applying 485 next month

anyways i'm not willfully making crowd havent even applied for the PR adjustment feel upset ....but u know...uncomfortable feeling causes by the ridiculous waiting just can't be ignored

i had my fingerprint done on october 3rd 2002. I do not have a passport so they just gave me a document that indicates PR..good luck

I did FP Oct.03.2002 i`m expecting my approval letter any time now.thank you shamshon for that information.Do you have any idea wheather we still use RTD`s after obtaining GC`S or its going to be different TD`s?

i have not really thought about that. May be you ask Gilbert after he comes back from Australia.
 
There is something called Permit to Reenter the United States. It is like a passport and green card holders use it a lot.

At least there was the case 15 years ago.

Sessanga Charlesa,

Asylee can use the travel document for travel even after the green card has been granted and issued. The only difference will be in the category section:

For an asylee category will say ASYLEE
and my understanding for the the folks with greencard it will
say Permanent Resident

My friends who are citizen now, I remember that they travelled on RTD after they had green card issued
