Can a TN visa holder get GC if his/her spouse apply GC using H1 visa?

We are canadian citizen. My wife comapny supports us to get GC and
she is using H1B visa. I am working using a TN visa. Someboday told
me if you want to change your status to get GC, you must be
H1 or H4 visa, NOT a TN visa even your spouse has a H1 visa and you
get GC as a family member. Is it true?
