Approaching a senator & representative

Guys,
Did anybody approach a local US Senator as well as house Representative at the same time with immigration help? Anybody has any ideas on it? I already approached my local Senator's office few days back but I get the feeling that they might not want to help the second time with my case. I didn't hear anything back from their office until now. First time they were very prompt in responding and enquiring about my case. I am wondering if it a good idea to approach the second senator or a US Representative?

I would go ahead and contact them again. They sometimes are not responsive because they are overloaded and need to prioritize what to pursue immediately. Obviously, you should exercise common sense and not overdo it. After all, once you are a citizen, they are your voice in Congress, and they work for you.

Be patient ..you've only passed interview 1 week ago. By law, USICS has up to 120 days after interview to render a decision on your case. Contacting congressperson so soon after interview would likely have no effect.

Normally I would have waited without any fuss but the fact they delayed my approval because of missing A# file is bothering me. My A# file is in transit since Oct 2nd 2009. That's like 4 months in transit now. I spend days looking for the transit info and realized that it is not retrievable at this time. I am already 6 months into my application processing. So if I wait for another 120 days only to be told that they are still looking for my A# file or something, it doesn't make any sense. It will be like 10 months by then. So I have decided to pro-actively pursue it and see if they do a proper search of it. Heard many stories about USCIS staff making mistakes in properly locating and requesting A# files. I contacted house representaive office this morning and spoke to someone who understood what's happening. He said he will contact the Supervisor directly and see what can be done. So waiting now.

Have you already opened a service request USCIS or contacted USCIS ombudsman's office?

I haven't opened a service request yet but I am not sure with whom should I open the service request, NBC center or the local DO? Also how do we open a service request? As for ombudsman's office, that I guess I have to wait for 120 days to make the case stronger. The reason why I am approaching senators/representatives is that they can talk to supervisors directly. Also, these supervisors have some discretionary powers. If it is brought to their attention that they spend 4 months already trying to locating the A# file, may be they can be flexible with the "2-times request by DO" rule and proceed with the T-file after putting in a request one time instead of twice. It's even possible the supervisor can make a call to other offices and try to get the A# file quickly. Whatever it is, better to explore all the venues available rather than do nothing.

You can open a service request by calling the 1-800 USCIS number and asking the rep to open one since your case processing is beyond the posted time. Likewise, you can contact USCIS ombudsman's office to have them intervene in your case since it's been processing longer than the posted time.
