Hi,
I'm subject to special registration meaning that before leaving US I should report to the immigration office at the airport. There are designated ports of departure from where I should depart. I wonder if anyone is in simiar situtation going to Nogales for 7 year H1 stamping. My appointment is on Nov 29, 2006 (Wednesday 10:00 AM) Based on the experiences in the newsgroup, there's a "revolving door" at the border and people pretty much walk through it. I want to report to US immigration before crossing the border into Mexico.

I have found some material online http://www.ice.gov/doclib/pi/specialregistration/WalkawayMaterial.pdf

Does anyone know that address of desingated office in AZ is at the airport or some other office in downtown?

This is the address where one who is subject to Special Registration (NSEERS) should report about the departure to Mexico for appointment at Nogales.

Arizona/Tucson
4740 North Oracle Road, Suite 310
Tucson, AZ 85705

Thanks
Jeff

Folks! help help!

Any Pakistanis ever got H1 visa stamped in Mexico? Please share you experiences.

Did you take Mexican visa or permit?

Where do you apply for permit?

Is not having a Mexico visa a problem when you appear for special registration before departing US into Mexico?

I hear that to go to Matamoros for H1 stamping, Alberto has taken people on entry permit because the cheid on the broder allows them to do that if it is for applyinf for an H1 visa. is it the same at other US embassies like Ciudad Juarez, Nogales ?

Thanks a lot for your help,
Jeff

jefkorn, you bring up a good point. I never realised as a Pakistani I would still have to submit my passport for entry and departure prior to entering/leaving Mexico. I plan on going to Juarez/El Paso for my 8th year H1B renewal and was searching for information when I came across your post. Following up on the link you provided, here is some information I gathered:

Follow-up: I called up the border control office at El-Paso: Bridge of the Americas (915-872-5710) and spoke with someone. They said they are open 24 hours and I should report to the Passport Control office for Special Registration and should have it done in less than half an hour.

I asked if I will have to report back to the same Office on my way back from the Juarez consulate and he suggested since I was from Pakistan, they might send me back to the office or just take care of it at the border entry point.

I have also written to the US Juarez Consulate for confirmation, let's see what they say. Hope this helps everyone who plans on coming to Juarez for visa renewal but also has to undergo special registration (i.e. male applicants from 21 muslim countries).

Regards, Jawad

2nd follow-up: Got a reply from the US consulate at Juarez confirming special registration requirement at time of departure/arrival at US border. I would think other folks who have to undergo special registration traveling through the other border posts can find out where the registration offices are by calling some of the numbers from the link listed above.

Dear Mr. Khan,

We appreciate your inquiry of January 26, regarding your
H1B visa renewal. As you are leaving the United States you
are required to register your departure at the Port of Entry,
and when you re-enter the United States you are required to
register your entry once more.

We hope this information is useful to you.
