Appointment for PR Stamping(after 485 approval)

Hi folks,
I have an appointment today for passport PR stamping at 1.00 pm.
I think it is a very convenient way of getting it done. All you have
to do is ask your lawyers to send in a request for appointment
and the INS will fax it back to the lawyers with date and time.
One can avoid the early morning queues and ruining a whole day
for this purpose.

After it is done, I will post my experience for CIBA to put it on his
webpage so that others can also take appointments(I think not
many people know that you can also go this way and avoid all
the hassle of going to INS at unearthly hours for PR stamping).

       I was a long spectator on this board. Finally my GC got approved and PP was stamped on 1/23/02.

Details:
EB3/CSC (non RIR/India)
PD: Sep 95
I-485 applied: Oct 2000
I-485 Interview: Nov 2001
I-485 approved: Jan 2002

Stamping done now:)

This is the most hassle-free and wonderful way to get your GC stamped
on your passport.

I reached there early around 12.15 pm for my 1-2 pm appointment.
(Dont go early, go like 10 minutes before 1, it is of no use going there and
getting bored and wasting your time off work).

At 1.05 a lady came and took our approval notices(for people how had
ADIT processing appointments). Then she asked us to follow her into
a room where she and two other officers would work with us.
She asked us to sit down(on the chairs in the room). Since I had gone
early, I got my turn rightaway. It took not more than 7 minutes for the
officer to take my EAD, AP, approval notice. He took my signature,
finger print and then stamped my passport, wrote down the A#, validity
date and gave me back my passport.

I have no idea why people harass themselves by landing up at the INS
at unearthly hours, when the approval has already come through and
they can take this simple appointment and get it done in 15 minutes.

know that there is an option for PR Stamping.

Sadly there were many ppl sitting there waiting for their tokens to be called
out. I went there after them got my stamping done before them...and they
were the ones who probably took a day off and were awake all thro the night
for the same purpose..
