Appointment for I-551 stamping at SJC

I just wanted to share my I-551 stamping experience at San Jose.
I had an appintment on 07/09 between 1.00 and 2.30 PM, So, went there at 12.30 and waited for 15 minutes at the first floor. At 12.45 went to room #200(2nd fllor) and dropped appointment letter at a window. I was called around 1.20 and it took less than 5 minutes to complete all the formalities. The officer did not ask any questions. I handed over EAD, AP, and I-94..I was out of CIS bldg by 1.30....What a great relief...

My advise to others (who are planning to visit SJC for stamping) is that take an appointment ($10 bucks per person) and avoid going in the early morning and jumping b/w appoinment and non-appointment lines....In my opinion its worth spending after waiting long long period for approvals.

One more thing is that my attorney scheduled an appointment within a day for next day stamping...

good to hear about your experience and thanks for posting. iam sure there are many relieved tohear that there is a appointment line.

now, how did u schedule it? is there a number to call or can it be done online or only by an attorney?
 
The process of taking appointment at SJC will be very useful for lots of people here. Is it possible for you to find out from your lawyer some details on how to take appointment?

Tomorrow I will try to find out from my attorney about scheduling an I-551 appointment at San Jose. From my email thread I found out that my attorney requested another law firm to schedule an appointment and I received reply within few hours with an appointment letter.

There were at least 10-15 people with appointment letters. So, there must be way to get that.

Appointment thrugh lawyer

I am in the same boat and in the process of getting a appointment through my lawyer, She told me it was done through AILA and that they had just received something (letter ?) from SJ office telling them about it and I was the first person they were going to do it for, that is all I know. It is a new procedure and I guess started after SJ office started turning folks (for ADIT stamping) away from appointment line

SF office too I think

My lawyer says he's going to get me an appointment for the SF office on Sansome. He mentioned that it was a new thing, and said it would take about a week to get. I'll keep you posted on it.
