Applying Visa to Ireland while on EAD

I need to apply a visa to Ireland for a possible business trip. I am a Chinese citizen. The visa application has this requirment:

___________________________________________________________
Original Permanent Resident card (green card) or relevant immigration document (e.g. I-20 for students, etc) PLUS A PHOTOCOPY (FRONT & BACK).
___________________________________________________________

For me, either one applies. I filed I485 back in June 2002 (still waiting, believe it or not), and my H1B expired March 2005. I have been working on EAD all the time.

Any thoughts on what kind document I should submit. I also sent email with similar question to their consulate.

Thanks a mil....

A currently dated, previously used Advance parole with a very good explanation and evidence of your intention to return may do it.Since it is a business trip, letter of employment and evidence of personal funds and your admissibility to the USA after your visit would back your application.
If you are lucky they may not need to send your application to Dublin hence early decision.
Your contact in Ireland should also write to support your application and clearly state "you will depart after your visit"
Where are you planning to apply Boston,New york or west coast?

I will have to apply at NYC while I am in GA. I do have a previously used advanced parole but it expired in 2004. My current AP has not been used and is valid till May 2006.

I am not sure if AP is adequate to fulfill their requirement for "Green Card" or equivalent paper document.

Anyone with similar experiences?

They are most interested in knowing you have an approved document allowing you back to the states after your visit.I have seen even F1 students and dependts Visa applicants securing a visitors Visa. They know AP is a legal document and irish citizens use them a lot while 485 is pending. Morever if you fly direct into shannon or dublin there is a US immigration post where you are inspected and have your AP stamped. You dont have to undergo any inspection again on arriving in us.They will confirm that AP is approved and you would not have a problem coming back. cead mile failte (a million welcome in irish)

The visa is granted.

The key part is to show your Advanced Parole and EAD for people like me(I485 pending).

Thanks for the replies.

trip to Ireland

Hi, There,

Sorry I did not mean to hide information. Since the topic is to get Visa, so I stopped there.

The trip was pretty smooth. Going through Irisih custom was really simple, no immigration paper ever asked. On the way back (The unique thing about Dublin airport, if fly with Continental, is you can go through Immigration at Dublin airport), I was pulled aside - since I was the only one with AP traveling - to wait for Immigration officer to go through my paper work. After 15 minutes wait, he told me that I should've given my I94 in US, which I did not. That was about it. He stamped my original AP paper, and let me go.

Let me know if you need more information.

Again, applogies for late response.

Thank you for updating and bringing the trhead to an end. We can refer to it again should anybody be interested. How could you have boarded in new york without submitting your I-94? anyway good to hear you had a smooth trip.

I94

It was never clear to me. In my last trip priot to this one, I did not submit I94 at all. At the airport, the airline lady asked me for that, I said "are you sure?" she smiled, and let me keep it. :-)
