Applying N-400 but moving to a different state next January

I'm going to apply for the N-400 after living with my wife for 4 years on East Coast. But I got a job offer in a different state starting next year on the West Coast. So will my application be transferred to a different office and be delayed after I submit the Change of Address? Do you know what will happen?
Thanks.

yes your application will be transferred and could be delayed.
Is there an adress that you could use in the city you're moving so it could save you time?

Moving during the process has the potential for delays and problems because of transferring the files and their propensity to screw up address changes; they might continue to send mail to your old address, resulting in you missing important notices like the interview letter.

However, if you're going to file after you move, you would have wait until you satisfy the 3-month district/state residence requirement in the new location.

So you have two bad choices:
1) File N-400 before you move, then relocate and file the address change and deal with the risk that they'll delay things or otherwise mess up,
or
2) move to the West Coast location and live there for 3 months, then file N-400.

Yah, so if you don't need to naturalise in a hurry, you might as well wait. Also, is your wife moving with you, or are you planning on moving by yourself?

Thanks for the responses guys.
She will will stay in the old house for a few months before we make our decision (based on how much I like the job) to officially move to the new place. We have not listed our house for selling yet. She will still be able to check my mails during this time.
Would it be ok to file the application using the address of our current house when I will be away from home starting January?

I should for sure do this. I would apply asap, this way you should have done your FP pretty soon and only need to fly over for the interview/oath.

What is your field office?

Since you'd still be maintaining ownership and full control of the house (i.e. not renting it out) and your wife would be still living there, and you're not making the decision to permanently move to the West coast until after you've worked there for some months, you could continue to use the old house as your residential address through naturalization. But you'd have to fly back to the East coast for the interview and oath in the state where current house is located. And you'd need to keep other things consistent with the old house address, like your driver's license and tax filing.

I think that's a good idea. FP here ASAP. The field office is in Atlanta. Thanks.

Thanks for the points. I think I will do that. The Atlanta field office does the oath the same date with the interview, so I might only need to fly back once.
