Applying GC for my parents

Hello.
I am planning to apply GC for my parents. There are in India now. I am thinking of applying when they visit me this summer. Do I need to wait for couple of months before applying GC, since they will be entering the country through visitors visa. Thanks in advance.

After your parents enter US and immediately you start GC process it will be illegal.I guess you should opt for consular processing if they really intend to come and stay in US with you.Its faster too.
 
There is no "length of time" you need to wait before filing for GC -- if they come in planning to file for GC before leaving, then it's fraud, no matter how many years you wait; conversely, if they come in without planning to file for GC before leaving, then file because something changed, then it's okay, no matter how short a time.

The problem is that you are planning to have them come in for the purpose of filing, and that's not allowed. Agreeing with the previous poster, you should file for them while they are abroad.

Thanks for the reply. They already booked the tickets to come this summer. My sister is coming to USA, who is closer to them. I am thinking of it applying GC. If it less riskier then I will apply when they return to India.
 
The preferred method is consular processing and it does not carry the risk of "being accussed of fraud/misrepresentation" that is always present when AOSing from B-2 status.
