I’m an USA citizen and planning to apply Green Card for my father (62 Years old) who does not live in the USA. He has been suffering from Parkinson’s and Dementia diseases for few years. Most of the time his memory is in lost. Will his situation affect to get Green Card? Your comments will be highly appreciated.
Thanks.

Yes. At his age and without having worked here to qualify for Medicaid, the public charge issue will be difficult to overcome. See the link.

Have you investigated what it costs to take care of his medical needs in the US without insurance? Insurance for him will be impossible to obtain or very expensive.

No, I haven't do it yet. I'll do that. Right now, his Parkinsons diseases is at last stage and the doctor told us that he does not require to hospitalize but he needs spacial care at home which my mother is doing now. Currently, his medical cost is very low ( only for medicines and doctor appintment at every 3 months). I would like to stay with my father in his last days of life that's why I want to bring him here in USA permanently. It will be very hard for me to go back to my original country to stay with my father.

Another thing is that my father also have a visitor visa. Is it good idea to bring him here with a visitor visa and then apply for GC (I130 and I485) here in the USA?
If he comes with visitor visa, is there any posibility that the airport immigration officer does not allow him to enter USA since he cann't speak and understand? Any sugession will be highly appreciated. Thanks

Likely, and even more likely if the immigration officer determines that he is going to immigrate.

My husband had PD-5 programme about 4 months ago. Tremors in his hands and jaw are gone. It doesn’t make the Parkinson’s go away but it did give him better quality of life.
