Applying for wife's H4 stamping

Hello folks,
I am posting this message on behalf of my friend. He is in desperate need of help. Any feedback in this regards will be greatly appreciated.

My wife will be appearing (for the first time) for H4 stamping at US consulate. I have pay stubs for this year, but for a substantial period last year, I was on the bench without much pay. Although, I have the W2 and 1040 for last year, it does not match my annual expected salary (Because I was not paid for most of last year).

Should I have my wife approach the consulate now? Or should I wait until next years tax returns and then ask her to approach the consulate?

Please Help!!

------ Employer is supposed to pay the minimum wages as on LCA, BENCH or Table is NOT allowed let your employer explain why he did not pay you. your employer has violated the H1 law/regulation if you file complaint with DOL they will investigate the employer, he can be fined and cannot file any H1 for 1 year and your wages will be recovered by DOL
Should I have my wife approach the consulate now?
----- She can try, she should show only what is asked
Or should I wait until next years tax returns and then ask her to approach the consulate?
----- at that time also they can ask for all the past W-2 or all the paystubs for past years, these days they can ask anything
Please Help!!
