Applying for USC soon and have a few questions about the application.

Hello everyone and thank you for reading my thread. In May of this year I finally qualify to apply for citizenship. I have printed out the N-400 application and started going through it to make sure I have everything ready by May. After reading through some of the questions on the application, I am confused on some of the questions and I hope someone here can clear them up for me.

(Page 5) Part 8. Information About Your Martial History (Continued)

Here's where I am confused, on Part 8, Questions C and D asks "is your current wife a U.S. Citizen?"

I was at one point married to a USC, I got approved for LPR (conditional) and then later down the road we got divorced and I had to file an I-751 which was approved. So I am filing for USC under the 5 year rule now, but I am not sure if I need to put YES on here or leave it blank since I WAS at once point married to a USC but I am NOT now currently married.

Question G: It's asking again about my "current spouse" and how many times she has been married. Again, do I need to put this info if I am already divorced or do I need to put on there how many times shes married? Because as far as I know she was married to me and after we divorced I do not know if she got remarried. Since I am divorced now do I leave this blank?

(Page 9) Part 10, Question G "Selective Service Registration," Question 33.

I came to the USA when I was a child and overstayed my VISA. When I was 18 years old I did not have a green card and was technically illegal in the USA but I DID register for the selective service, but I don't know how to answer this question. Was I in the USA in any status except as a lawful non-immigrant? I don't understand this question. What is a non immigrant?

Those are the only questions I was confused about and I hope someone can help. Thanks in advanced and have a great day!!

Since you are not currently married, leave the question blank.

Since you registered for Selective Service, go to SSS.gov and look up your registration. If you can't find it via the website, contact them by using one of the methods provided on the page and request a status letter. If you are currently over 31 years of age, your Selective Service status is largely irrelevant to the naturalization process.

Those are the only questions I was confused about and I hope someone can help. Thanks in advanced and have a great day!!

A lawful nonimmigrant is somebody who was admitted into the US legally with a temporary status such as tourist visa, student visa, or work visa and has not overstayed.

You did not have legal status at the time, which means you were in the US without being a lawful nonimmigrant, so you have to answer YES to that question.

Oh I see. So I put yes, and put the registration number and date that I have on my selective service registration card correct?

Thank you guys for the quick response. I appreciate it.

Correct.

Also, at least by the time of the interview, you'll need to provide actual evidence of Selective Service registration. (Or better yet, enclose such evidence with your N-400 application, so that it becomes a permanent part of your file).
If you still have any of the correspondence that Selective Service sent you when you registered, bring copies of that.
Also, you could go to their website, and get a confirmation of your registration online: https://www.sss.gov/RegVer/wfVerification.aspx
