Applying for travel documents

Hi
My wife is going to India for few months, her travel document is valid till 2nd July.
So i am thinking of applying for renewing the travel document before she goes to India,
i have following questions
1, Should i do it online, or through attorney, What are advantages and disadvantages, other then saving $
2, Do they ask to do finger prints again for travel documents? she would be india, so what happens if they ask to do so.
3, If for some reason, and she stays beyond 2nd july in India, and she does not get the travel documents, then what happens?

Any advice / experiences would be really appreciated

My 485 is EB3 with priority date Nov 2001, what are the chances of happening some thing before october 2008,
I know this is impossible question to answer :)
 
Do it yourself. As you have to attach photographs anyway it makes sense to send it over mail.
No FPs.
gegreendc is correct, wife must have new AP approved before leaving.
 
apply yourself and do paper file ..

if you paper file, you will not have to wait for the receipt notice to send the supporting documents and also not go for finger printing.

I filed mine in last week of Feb and i am already seeing LUDs on my cases.
Looks like they are working on AP cases .

if you e-file you will not need the reciept notice to send supporting documents.
you should send them with printout.
and I got fastest approvals on APs when I e-filed comparing to paper filing
 
This is what I got from my lawyer.

1. YOU CANNOT LEAVE THE COUNTRY WHILE AP IS IN APPLIED STATE.
2. YOU CANNOT COMEBACK ON THE NEW APPROVED AP.
3. YOU HAVE TO BE IN THE COUNTRY TO APPLY FOR THE AP.

So my wife can go to India and come back before 2nd July and apply for new travel documents,
What happens if she is stuck in India, and her travel documents expire,
is there a way to renew them from India

ru asking about the travel document you can get after being a GC holder or the AP??
