I'm currently in the US on tourist visa. I've decided to visit Europe (Italy) for a week on an escorted tour and then return to US. I already have a roundtrip ticket: home country - US - home country.
I looked at the Italian embassy's website and it says B1/B2 holders cannot apply in US for Schengen, but would have to apply in the consulate of their country. This goes the same for most of the other Schengen countries.
However, I noticed that the French consul in Boston and Washington accepts B1/B2 applicants with heavier processing (I'm under this area of jurisdiction =) ). On the other hand the French consul in San Francisco doesn't accept B1/B2 at all. Quite different ... Now I'm thinking of just touring France for a week instead of Italy...
Has anyone tried this process before or is familiar?
