Applying for lottery during DOB change

Hey all,

I'm currently living in the US on a work visa, and all my documents have the wrong DOB except for my birth certificate. I've decided to correct my documents starting with my passport and I'm in the middle of that. I don't have the new passport yet, but I want to apply for the lottery. Do you think I should apply with the current incorrect DOB, or should I enter the correct DOB? I know if I got selected and went to the interview I can show both passports with an explanation, but not sure which DOB would be a better case.

And how do you plan on reconciling all the documents with the wrong DOB which you already presented to the US government? You presented documents and signed immigration forms attesting to the accuracy of the information presented, the US government already has all of these in the systems. I doubt the false misrepresentation you engaged in while obtaining US immigration benefit can simply be addressed by you obtaining new documents with the correct information.

Submitting an eDV lottery registration with the wrong DOB on your existing passport is further perpetuating the misrepresentation. On the other hand, submitting an eDV lottery registration with the correct DOB and the other details from the old passport constitutes a fraudulent attempt as you clearly do not have a passport on hand that shows the correct DOB at the time of the eDV registration.

I didn't know my actual DOB until very recently. The country I came from don't use the Gregorian calendar and the wrong DOB I went with most of my life is off by only one day. I found the mistake when I saw my birth certificate and did an investigation. My plan is to explain to them it was a mistake and hope they will accept my explanation
