Applying for J1 Visa while on I-140

Hi,

I am looking for some advice regarding obtaining a J1 visa for my wife. She is a doctor by profession and she is planning to apply for her residency in next year (2010). However, found that it's really hard to find an H1 sponsorship from a hospital. Most of the hospitals encourage to go for a J1 visa. The issue I have is that, I have already gotten my I-140 approved and awaiting the date becomes current for 485 stage.

In case, if my wife gets her J1 before we start our 485 stage, will she have any complications in changing her status from J1 into GC or EAD?

Your advices are greatly appreciated.

It is likely she will get rejected for a J1 visa. If she does get accepted, then she will have to do her J1 waiver prior to adjustment to GC status.
