Hello Everybody,

I am new to this portal. I have a question for all.
Please give me the maximum feedback. Does a
person who has been granted ASYLUM, have to
apply for a green card(PR status) after one year?
Cannot that person live a regular life, pay taxes
and be willing never to return to his homelend?

are you dumb?

Give us more information

Welcome to the Forum.

You do not have to apply for adjustment of status after one year. Furthermore, as you stated, you may continue to live here legally. The benefit of applying for permanent residence is that your status will be significantly protected and unlike your asylee status, the government may not simply revoke your permanent resident status without showing cause and taking you through an adjudicative process. As to your asylee status, by statute, the government may revoke your status if situations have improved in your home country. Another benefit of permanent residency is that you will start to accrue time if you want to naturalize and become a U.S. citizen down the road.

In order to give you "maximum feedback" you got to tell us why you do not want to apply for PR status? Are you afraid of something we are not aware of? There are a number of exceptions and waivers you may use so long as you consult with a good immigration attorney.

Good luck

Answer

Buz9996,
I'll definitely answer your question but first could you do us all a favor and prepare a list describing the advantages/opportunities for being a U.S. Citizen in this country as compared to the non U.S. citizens. After you are done preparing that list, read it out loud to see if you get the answer to your question. If not come back and we'll see what we can do for you

No you don't have to apply for adjustment. But even though it is not happening a lot your asylum status may be revoked if conditions will change in your home country. Chances are 1 out of 80 that it will happen.
