Applying for family with minor kid(s).

Hi Friends,

My entire family is eligible (Me,Spouse & Son) for applying for the citizenship. My son is 11 years old. My dilemma is:
1. Can I apply for his citizenship along with ours.
2. If so which application form? N-600?

The matter that confuses me is that N-600 says that the parent of the child must be US citizens at the time of application.

Can I still use N-600 and put the details in 'Others' of part 2. Is there some other way I can apply for his citizenship along with us?

Has anyone else in this group processed their application in this situation ?

Thanks

Part 2. Information About Your Eligibility.(Check only one).

A. I am claiming U.S. citizenship through:
- A U.S. citizen adoptive parent(s).
- Both U.S. citizen parents.
- A U.S. citizen adoptive parent(s).
- An alien parent(s) who naturalized.

B. I am a U.S. citizen parent applying for a certificate of citizenship on behalf of my minor (under 18 years) BIOLOGICAL child.

C. I am a U.S. citizen parent applying for a certificate of citizenship on behalf of my minor (less than 18 years) ADOPTED child.

D. Other(Please explain fully)

As soon as any of the parent gets naturalized, the permanet resident child becomes instantly US Citizen by application of the law. The best way to document this is to apply for a US Passport for the child. You may also apply then for a N-600 but it is more expensive, takes longer and is weaker evidence of US citizenship (The US Supreme court has stated that an unexpired US passaport is the ONLY conclusive evidence of US Citizenship), and it is not good to travel (except in limited cases).
