applying for citizenship

Hi,

I will be eligible to apply for citizenship on oct 4th,2009 (based on continuous residence for 4years+9 months). I have been continuously residing in the US since Jan 1st, 2005 . However, I got my permanent residence card in February, 2001 and used a couple of re-entry permits before I finally moved to the US at the beginning of 2005. Now that I am applying for my citizenship, do I have to send any additional documents apart from the usual (green card copy, check, photo)?

I sincerely appreciate your help.

S.

Thanks. So, I don't have to send my income tax returns for the last 5 years or some sort of proof that I lived in this country since the past 5 years?

Not unless you broke continuous residency or ever failed to file a tax return.

I don't mean to keep harping on this issue. I have continuous residency since 5 years. But I got my green card about 8 years ago and in the N400 requirement guidelines it says:

If you have taken any trips outside the United States that lasted six months or more since becoming a Permanent Resident, send evidence that you (and your family) continued to live, work and/or keep ties to the United States, such as:

*
An IRS tax return "transcript" or an IRS-certified tax return listing tax information for the last five years (or for the last three years if you are applying on the basis of marriage to a U.S. citizen).
*
Rent or mortgage payments and pay stubs.

So, do I need to send these documents or can I take them to the interview with me?

Thanks,
S.

Eitehr wya are OK. If you have those documents now, you can send copies
and bring original to the interview. and also when you go tto interview bring originals aquired between sending sending-N400 and the interview.

Do not send any original documents with N400 especially if some originals are no longer obtainable from original origanization that issued them
