We are appg for cancellation and PIO card together. Since original Indian passport is being submitted for cancellation, do the photo copies of Indian passport (each of the seven pages) neelyind to be notarized?
Also we are applying for cancellation and PIO card as a family of three members. Do we need separate Money orders for each application or it can be one common amount. Also can one return postage be sent for the entire family?
Thanks

Shenoy,
Many of these depend on the consulate you are supposed to mail your applications.
D.C, e.g., used to allow combining all these into one, but recently posted a new guideline that the applications can be sent in one package, but the fees should be in separate checks:(:).
You might want to check the relevant consulate site and/or the thread that tracks all user posts for that consulate.

Good luck,
V!!

Before you apply, make sure that PIO card is what you want - you might be eligible to get an OCI card instead which is cheaper and has certain benefits over PIO card.

Thanks nkm!
Is it true that the OCI card takes 3 to 4 months. I am thinking of applying for PIO because of short term travel plans.

Shenoy,
I believe there is still confusion about applying these 2 together in NY. Please check the recent posts in NY threads and some of them have had "Haloween" experiences......
To avoid confusion, users were recommending to do it separately.

In line with nkm-oct23's comments.....the other option is to get an Entry visa for your immediate travel needs and start the OCI process as soon as you get your SC as part of the entry visa processing. Let OCI take its time and by the time you are done with your trip, OCI application might have done its own transatlantic trip to DELHI and back:)

Good luck,
