Applying for a visitor visa

Hi,

I am a beneficiary of a family-based immigration category 1 (F1) petition.

I would like to visit (for one week) my family in the US before the time I become a GC holder. I am wondering if during the time I am waiting for a visa number, I can apply for a US visitor visa or not.

You can apply, but it will be hard to prove "non immigrant intent" when you have an i-130 filed for you.
