Hi,
I'm about apply for 140/485. As I'm a consultant, I know, I'll be changing my address often. I would like to give my relative house address, as my permanent address. what are the possibilities to do this? what are the legal issues? Please advice me.

Thanks a lot.

This is exactly what a friend of mine has done and he's had not problems. In fact since he is a road warrior (100% travel) with one of the big fiev consulting firms, his attorneys recommended the same. As long as you do not give a PO Box number and the new address is within the same city limits you should be fine!

All you have to make sure that if and when your relative changes his/ her house/ apt you acordingly have to do the same. Free advice: Give address of someone who is planning not to move for atleast next 2 years until you get your GC.

Hi,
Thanks a lot for your reply.

My consulting company & my relative’s house are in NJ. I am at present, located in Boston; and may move to any place. Do you think, it is not advisable to give my relative’s address? How can I deal with AR-11, when I change my address?

Thanks.

I'd suggest check with a couple of lawyers (try sheel murthy chat session on monday nights from 9-10pm if you dont get an answer from this forum) before making a decision. I am not sure if changing address from boston to NJ would pose a problem. (I think it may...)

As far as AR-11 is concerned whenever you change remember to file AR-11 with your INS center which i think is VSC within 10 working days (2 weeks) from your move.
