Apply to J1 Visa when C1/D visa is valid

Hi All,

I have a question. Say if a person has a valid C1/D visa, (Visa for crew member and sea man) and he intends to apply to J1 Visa,
1. Can he apply to J1 Visa when he has valid C1/D Visa?
2. Would there be any problem for him to get that Visa?
3. What would be the impact on C1/D visa if he is approved or rejected J1Visa?

Could some please answer these questions ASAP so that I can take some decision?

Could you please tell me suppose if J1 visa is rejected then do I still have C1/D visa valid?

Actually I got C1/D visa through my crew company and I am applying J1 on my own. I am happy to lose C1/D visa if I get J1. Suppose for some reason J1 is rejected then I am worried not to lose my C1/D.

Could you please confirm me on this?

You will not loose C1/D if you get J1.
If J1 is rejected, C1/D will be still valid, but you might have problems using it.
