apply for EB1A OR EB2 NIW if I-485 pending?

I have an I-485 EB-2 w/ LC in interview stage. I anticipate a long wait time since my file has been sent to NYC.

Can I apply for a new I-140 or a a concurrent I-140/I-485 based on NIW or EB1A? Will it jeopardize my current application?

I do have the international prize, journal+conference papers+letters of support, I am a reviewer for a couple of journals and my stuff has been referenced.

I don't see how it could jeopardize it, but I don't see how it could help. You're looking at a couple of years at the VSC (at least) for this process.

Unfortunately, the NYC office is really a nightmare. One colleague was called in for an interview with his EB1EA case. It took two years to get an appointment...that was with help from a Senator's office. Once he got there, the INS guy looked at his file and asked why he was there because his AOS had been approved 7 months earlier.

I could apply -140 NIW/ I485 with CSC, where I can find out in three months (can I do that if I live in NY State?)and then get it faster and be able to move.

INS screwed up and sent my file to NYC instead of Buffalo, to which my county belongs.
