Well you have just entered your part of life where you have to "wait". From here the wait starts. Then on you will wait for everything! They do it pretty slow. But they will definitely do it.

Wait for it to appear online....(it might appear online with an earlier date)
Wait for the NORIs to be sent to the DOS (if your case is NORI)
Wait for them to update it online
Wait for getting favourable recommendation
Wait for many more.....

I have waited for long and still waiting to get favourable recommendation.

All the best.

From India . I am a researcher in Acedemia.

Just look below for my time line

Sep 10, 2006 - Sent the NORI request documents to India to three places. (MHRD
-Delhi, Passport office Chennai, Home department Chennai)
Sep 18, 2006 - Sent the relevant documents to DOS J1 waiver section with fees.
Oct 15, 2006 - Sent documents appeared online dated Oct 5th 2006. (I did not
notice how long they took to post it online. I actually saw that
after 15th Oct)
Jan 10, 2007 - Got all the NORIs from India (of course with a lot of push)
Sent them to Indian embassy Chicago along with passport.
Feb 22, 2007 - Received J1 waiver letter from Indian Embassy Chicago
dated 15th Feb with passport
Mar 13, 2007 - Received letter from Indian Embassy in D. C. dated 6th March
stating that my J1 waiver is "being forwarded to DOS" (watch
statement).
Mar 21, 2007 - Got J1 extension uptil June 2008
Mar 21, 2007 - Sent the new DS-2019 to waiver review division as additional documentation.
Mar 21, 2007 - Applied for advisory opinion for HRR
Mar 20, 2007 - DOS received the no objection from embassy - appeared online on 22th March
Mar 29, 2007 - DOS received the new DS-2019 sent by me - appeared online on 6th April
Apr 05, 2007 - DOS received all documents for Advisory opinion - appeared online on 6th April

Still waiting....

thanks Sri for brief discription.

I haven't find my status DOS website yet. They are really so slow.

If they not able to put case online after 3 weeks then how long they would take for whole process?? What ususally time frame for this whole process???

Please reply me !

It depends on how many applications they got. Sometimes it takes 1 week to see it online, sometimes it takes 6 weeks..... Mine took over 4 weeks to appear online (in Feb 07). Just be patient

Hi Shri,
