Please help,

I just applied for my wife using the I-130 a week a go, I haven’t received anything yet,

Now I have thought to apply for my Dad, (my brother is applying for my mother), would that be possible? and if yes, is it going to slow my wife’s visa process?

Any help is appreciated

Thanks a lot in advance

I understand you are a US citizen. Go ahead and file for your dad as quick as possible as to get him in the system before the new immigration bill passes. That bill may limit the number of parents of citizens eligible for GC in the future.

Filing for your dad will NOT slow down your wife' s case. That is a separate process. However, when you file I-864 for your dad the form will ask you what other persons you have sponsored in the past through affidavit of support. Be sure to mention your wife.

To sponsor one applicant, you need to make 125% of poverty level. I don't know how much is required for two applicants (if anything more), but there are income tables you can look up in the instructions. If your wife has not supplemented I-864 with her own assets/income then this might leave you short for sponsoring your dad in case you make below the required income level. In this case you may use your brother as a co-sponsor for your dad, and also your brother as the only sponsor for your mom, if your brother is financially better off than you are.

Thanks a lot Elfy:)

Your info, was very helpful, I looked at the poverty level table you mentioned, and I have income to support about 6 members, so I am going to apply for my father as quick as possible, while my brother apply for our mom,

And I will mention in that form that I have applied for my wife to come to the US.

Thanks a lot again for your inputs ;)

One more favor, does any one know a link in this forum or else where I can find step by step guide to apply for my father, I have applied for my wife using the K3 step by step guide,,, but I don't think that apply to my father case,

Any help will be appreciated

Thanks in advance for the input

I am in similar situation sponsoring my mom. Can you file I130 now to get her in the system and do the 485 later? Due to medical condition, we are not ready to file 485 until later.

Do as you think is best, but medical condition (your mom's, I suppose) does not affect I-485 processing unless it is a transmissible disease. All your mom needs to prove is that she doesn't have syphilis, HIV, active TB, and that she has her immunizations up to date. Inactive TB (i.e. under control) is OK. Chronic or age-related disease is irrelevant.
