I applied for my 2 kids passport. Both were born here. My elder son's passport was a renewal and the younger one was a fresh one. I see that the checks were cleared but there is no status online yet. It has been more then 2 weeks.
My wife changed her last name and there is some confusion about the birth certificates. I got her new name on my younger son's certificate. For my elder son, it had to be sent to central office for correction. Just a day after I applied for the passports, I got a letter saying that mother's maiden name is supposed to be on the certificate, so the state is not accepting the name change. I am ok with that, but I already sent the certificate along with name change document for PP processing. I explained the situation to the heath dept's vital statistics division. They said to get back with the certificate as soon as it came back and they would correct it back to mother's maiden name. As it happens, even on the PP application, I was asked to change the mother's last name to her maiden name, so at least that is in sync (or is it?)
So now I am not sure whether the PP will be processed or not. Anybody knows what the state dept will do with original certificate. i mean check with state authority. I don't want to call them and confuse them. should I wait for 2-3 more weeks or be proactive now....
I am not traveling right now, but I need to apply for OCI for the family and we have travel plans in May.
Any suggestions appreciated.
