Application sent to NBC - a few questions

First of all, my I-140 is still pending but it looks that I-485 is
moving a lot, lol. I thought that they would wait for the decision
on I-140.

Anyway, I have a few questions and I would appreciate if someone
could give me some answers.

1. I am applying for myself and my 15 years old son. We had an
appointment for biometrics on May 24. I was fingerprinted but my
son's passport expired. I was told at the Center that we had up to
84 days to have my son fingerprinted but after that we would have to
reschedule. We sent a passport application right away but I realized
that there was no way to get the passport on time so I asked the form
asking for rescheduling. We were also told that if we have interview
(s) scheduled we should go.

2. Two days ago I was notified that my papers were sent to National
Benefits Center for processing. What does it mean? I suppose it has
something to do with an interview. Do they interview people before
the decision on I-140?

3. Today I was informed that my son's application was sent to NBC as
well. How the biometrics situation would affect it?

Thanks
