AP vs. H1B

Hi! I'm getting ready to mail in my AOS, along with an EAD request. My current H1B visa (I-94) is current until 9/07. My question is, Can I still travel on my H1B until it expires, without applying for Advance Parole? The information regarding this process is confusing, and my lawyer has told me I DON'T NEED the AP. However, what I've found online suggests that, if I use my EAD to work for another employer (besides the H1 sponsor), it will void my current H1 - which means I'll need an AP.
Any ideas/experience with this?
Thanks!

Thats correct, If you use EAD for employment, you no longer can have your H1B. In this case you need AP to travel.

It does not matter if you work for sponser or other employer. Using EAD to work for any employers invalidates your non-immigrant status which is H1 in this case.
