AP use and H1

i had a vaild H1 petition till may 2005 but my visa was expired. I also had AP issued. So i traveled on my AP in May 2003 for 2 weeks. when i came back, i was stamped "parolle entry" on my passport. i simply showed up in my office next day and started working. but some one was telling me that my H1 status is no more valid. is that true?

lus i want my wife to come on H4 visa. can i still do that given the fact that i traveled on AP plus i dont have a stamped H1 visa on my passport.

please advice as i need to take an action for my wife H4 visa. thanks a lot

thank you very much for your reply.however, i would also like to ask one more question. I came back on AP on MAy 13 and was laid off on may 23 ( it was more than 180 days). i found a new job in same profession and started working from september 2003 using my EAD. what now? i know i lost my H1 stauts as i used EAD. but now. my new company is ready to file a new H1 application for me but we are not sure if by law, my company can file H1 petition for me.i want a new valid H1 petition for me so that i can apply H4 for my wife. Can my new company apply for H1 for me?

---- They can file NEW H1B petition, once H1 is approved and you get approval notice go out of US, get H1visa stamped and enter on H1 status you will get I-94 based on H1

---- Yes the company can apply fresh/NewH1b for you
