ap renewal question

my i485 is pending since a year.
my AP is expiring on may/3/2003.

however my h1 visa with current company is valid till march 2004 next year.

Is it necessary to renew AP before it expires.
FYI, I am planning to change employer sometime in june/2003.

Well it's not really necessary but you never know.
What happens if your new company doesn't do H-1 transfers and your are stuck using EAD and then you have to go out of the country.
Are you worried about the monetary costs?
