AP renewal and Emergency travel

My GC case details are:
VSC, RD-08/06/01, RFE issued (for employment, pay stubs & IT Return) on 08/09/02, RFE reply received by VSC as per AVM on 08/26/02.

I recently found that my Dad is in advanced stage of terminal cancer. So I am planning to travel to India very soon. I checked my Advance Parole and it is expiring on Oct 8, 2002. I am gonna send my AP renewal application today.

My question is that if I didn't receive the renewed AP by Oct 8, 2002 and I have to travel in case of emergency, then what are my options for entering into the uS back. One of my friend told me that if you carry your current AP and the receipt of the renewal AP application then the INS officials should allow you entry at the port.

Your friend is wrong

it does not work that way. However you can go to local INS before Oct 8 , after showing some proof about your father's condition, can get another AP valid for another year.


A pending renewal application will also help, maybe you have to wait until you get your AP renewal receipt.
A friend can also get your AP and send it to you at your home country if you are stuck outside US after OCT and you do not have a new AP.
