I applied for my AP renewal on July 16, 2003 (receipt date), which has not been approved yet. I am planning to travel outside US next week (got air tickets). My questions:
1) Going by the processing times existing at the time I applied for the AP renewal, I should have easily received the approval. How can the INS considerably delay the approval process so suddenly, and expect people who planned for their trip 5 months earlier to suddenly cancel their travel plans? Isn't there any law to 'protect the innocent' in such an instance?
2) Is anyone familiar with a recent instance where someone went overseas with the AP pending, and returned to the US after it was approved? The immigration officer would have a "right to deny" entry, but are they really so insensitive?
3) Is there a regularly updated tracker on the web for AP at CSC? Or else, can readers who applied in July and have received approval already please reply, providing filing and approval dates? I may have to postpone my travel, but would want to have some idea when I might receive the approval.
Thanks in advance.
