AP issues

I have on hand a valid AP which will expire on April 19.
I just applied for a new AP recently, and it is still pending.
My question is:
can i use the current one to travel and come back before April 19?

YES you can. That is what 'Valid till' means...you can use it until it expires !

How long are advance paroles valid? My mother-in-law was asked to come to pick up AP document, but we are not sure how long it is valid. She is planning to go to her home country in June and return in August.

If she gets a AP (Feb 18, 2004), will it be valid for 6 months (the time till she returns?)
