My AP is expiring in few weeks and would like to travel and come back before the AP expires. Please let me know if it is safe. Could i return day before AP expires? I have applied for renewal two months ago.

yes, you can travel. no problem at all as long as you come back before the AP expires. give yourself a couple of extra days just to be sure that there will be no airline delays or other events outside of your control that may delay you.

If possible go on the new AP...

You never know what issues you may have if you cut it so close - airline delays, pilot strikes, weather delays, etc... Play it safe and come back around a week before expiry. If going on emergency, get the emergency parole.

Where and how to get the emergency parole? I mean what proof is required?

Emergency Parole

Go to the district office with the proof of emergency. Unless its a real medical emergency they don't usually entertain requests for emergencyAP.

You can travel upto the last date on your AP, although I personally would not wait till the last day. Give yourself a couple of days buffer and return a few days before AP expires.
