AP H1 question

I have my reciept date and planing to apply for AP.planing to visit india in feb .My H1 is getting expired in end of mar and it is unlikely to get extension before i return , so planing to use AP.I have few questions.
How long does it take for AP if u apply with u\'r 485 reciept ?.
what if i try to return using H1 which has only few weeks left on it and I have H1 extension recipt with me ?.
Guys, if u know ans to this by chance please reply, dont use this board just to congratulate when some one gets 485 approved.

You can enter with a valid H1 and a receipt notice for the extension anytime till the date of the expiry. You can also do it after the expiry with a letter from your lawyer.
As long as you do not anticipate any rejection of your H1 extension (frivolous petition reason is ruled out, since you got your receipt already)
