AP approved, never received

My AP was approved on 11/3 but I never received the actual paper. I just receieved the EAD card. I am not sure if I should continue on H1 or move to EAD. I am not sure what the guidelines for travelling are, if I am on EAD and don\'t have AP.

Since my H1 is not valid once I moved to EAD, I need AP to travel. That\'s what I think. Does anyone know if I can travel while on EAD without AP?

Thanks,

Valid H1 visa stamping is good enought for traveling

Only if your current H1B visa is expired you need AP along with EAD to travel. But you should always check with your lawyer before you plan to travel for the latest developments.

I am in the same position.

I am in the same position, my AP was approved on 12/3 as per Imm Officer (IO). AVM is still not updated.

Is your AVM updated, did you talk to the IO?

yup, AVM changed, talked to IIO too

The AVM was updated on 11/3 saying my AP was approved and kept waiting for the approval notice. I think it got lost b\'coz of all the mail delyas due to Anthrax scare. I am in the Washington D.C area. Anyway, my lawyer\'s office spoke to the IIO 10 days back and seems the IIO asked them to send a fax request asking for another copy of AP or a second AP. They didn\'t from INS yet about the fax request.

Will post if I hear anything more.

No Title

Guys, i had a similar situation with my wife. She got approved for AP & EAD but they mailed the application at the wrong address. Luckily EAD was returned back to INS for wrong address but it wasn\'t the same thing with AP. AP was never received back to INS. TAfter many times of calling to IIO and speaking to my lawyer, the harcoded answer i received from them is if the approval notice is lost in mail and is not returned back to INS, you would have to reapply AP back again. For EAD you can reapply for a duplicate one if lost but with AP they need a fresh application for it even if it\'s INS fault in loosing your approval. They do not have a provision for a duplicate AP.

This is scary but it is the fact.

Not entirely true

You cannot travel once you file for 485 unless you have the 485 receipt or Advance Parole along with a valid H1.

Hope that clarifies.
