AP and Visa Stamp

Hi,
I got approved for a V-Visa recently but I haven't got the visa stamped in my passport yet .My current visa (H1) is going to expire soon . I am also applying for my I485 today . Can you tell me if I need an AP document to reenter the US after travel abroad - or do I need to get the V-visa stamped to be able to reenter even though I applied for I485 . Any help will be appreciated . Thanks .

If you wish to re-enter, you either need AP or a stamped V visa. Since you don't already have the stamp, I would suggest you wait until you get AP before leaving; if the stamp gets rejected for whatever reason then you are stuck.

u wud also get stuck if the 485 gets approved before u get a chance to get the V-visa stamped at the consulate - so the safest thing to do is get the AP.
