AP and H1 Status - Help

Hi,
I have a Valid H1 until 2004. Applied 485 in Jan2002..
Myself and Spouse have EAD/AP. I haven't used EAD, while my spouse is using her EAD for work. Both used AP for re-entry, as the officer asked for my AP[When I showed my valid H1] as my wife had to enter using AP.

My Question is
If we use AP' to re-enter would it VOID H1 status and do we need to switch to EAD?

My understanding is that using AP does not invalidate your H status, using EAD does. You do not need to use EAD just because you entered on AP.

Thats' my understanding too..
But going thru certain threads in this forum, leads me to think otherwise..!!

Can you clarify on this, if H1 is valid, and if a person enters on AP, would it VOID H1....[Spouse has used EAD and came thru AP and hence I was asked for AP while entering,]

If you are still working on H1 with the same company, using AP does NOT invalidate your H1.

I'm with the same sponsoring H1 company...!
Forced to use AP as wife was using her AP(used her EAD) and the officer insisted on my AP than H1..!!
