AOS working with no work auth

Yes, before your interview at the embassy/consulate, your F1-visa will be canceled. If your interview is successful and you have no problems, you will get a new visa on the passport, if not, then you will have to apply again for F1, but that would be a difficult task, as you would have shown intent to stay in the US, and the IO want to make sure that as F1 you will come back after your studies.
